Introduction to our Healthcare Support Work Program
This course has been specifically designed for school leavers who entertain a career in community support work. The program aims to provide an overview of the role, and give you a taster of what a typical day as a support worker might look like. So whether you have always had a passion for community work, or are simply curious to see if you should give this rewarding career more thought, we invite you to come and have a go!
Our program includes:
- 5 days classroom practical training that includes topics such as:
- Aged Care & NDIS Frameworks
- Working safely in Healthcare (Manual Handling, Infection Control, PPE)
- Communication skills required to work in the Australian health and community care sector
- Roles and Responsibilities of Support Workers
- Attend a Buddy Shift with a fully qualified Support Worker
- Activities of Daily Living including: Hoist Operations, Personal Care and Meal Preparation
- Falls Prevention
- Progress Notes

Successful graduates of the Introduction to Healthcare Support Work Program will be invited to apply for the 2025 Meditech Graduate Program intake commencing in January 2025.
The Meditech Graduate Program is a special program that allows you to study and work at the same time. Upon successful recruitment, you will be employed by Meditech Staffing, a leading provider of support services for people with disabilities, aged care, and mental health. You will be assigned to suitable clients and work under the supervision of a qualified mentor.
You will also receive online training and assessment from Meditech Training College to complete the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, which covers topics such as personal care, communication, safety, diversity, and legal and ethical issues.

Pre-requisite: Must be 18 years of age and have a driver’s license
Career Pathway
- Minimum 20 hours paid employment as a Support Worker with Meditech Staffing
- Transition to Permanent Part Time role granting eligibility for government funded training pathways to then enrol into an employer supported Traineeship to go on to complete CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support 2026, then CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services 2027.
