HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Entry Requirements

  • Be the minimum age of 18 years old
  • Be proficient in the English language, with a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have access to internet, webcam, email and MS Word, Adobe software and computer no older than 5 years
  • Maintain reasonable physical health and fitness as the role involves a variety of physical tasks.
  • It is a requirement of this unit that students are to perform a minimum of 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor. This is a mandatory requirement as stated in the Training Package and there are no exceptions that can be made.
  • If for any reason students are unable to perform these physical requirements, students cannot be deemed competent or issued with a Statement of Attainment and will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.
  • Complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Evaluation

Career Opportunities

Individuals who undertake first aid training may or may not be employed, and could be engaged in any number of fields including:

– First responders: doctors, nurses, paramedics, fire fighters, health care workers

– Other industries: office workers, government, tradespeople, factory workers

– Volunteers: social and sporting events

– General Public: grandparents, mums, dads

Training and Assessment Strategy

Classroom Training – 1 x 8-hour classroom session. Learning activities will reinforce theoretical knowledge, and workplace skills will be practiced and placed into context.
Online Learning –Learners are required to complete 100% of all Knowledge Question assessments online, prior to attending the classroom practical training session.
eLearning Modules – Learners are given access to a 16-hour online learning module that includes the theory components and formative assessments.  

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) & Credit Transfer

RPL

Students who believe they are already competent in parts of the course may apply for RPL. An application for RPL may only be made after enrolment and must be made using the RPL Application Form that will be provided. RPL is a form of assessment and requires the same application of the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence which are applied in any form of competency-based assessment.

 

Credit Transfer

Students who have completed units of this course at other registered training organisations will be given a credit transfer on presentation of a verified transcript, award or Statement of Attainment.
