CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services

This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities. At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management. Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination. This course includes a work placement of 200 hours to be completed within the course duration.

Training and Assessment Strategy

This course is delivered over eight (4) Academic terms of 200 contact hours each (10 weeks x 20 hours x 4 terms), including a minimum of 200 hours for work placement purpose.

A typical weekly schedule will involve 2 sessions x 7.5 hours and 5 hours of online study.

Entry Requirements

  • Be the minimum age of 18 years old
  • Be proficient in the English language, with a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have access to internet, webcam, email and MS Word, Adobe software and computer no older than 5 years
  • Complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Evaluation

This 20 months course currently costs $4500.

Role Plays in Assessment

In this course, you will engage in both summative and formative assessments, involving tasks such as writing reports, creating portfolios, and participating in role-playing scenarios. <br>
Additionally, you will undertake various projects requiring independent research and respond to written and oral questions aimed at applying theoretical knowledge to practical situations.

We strongly encourage you to embrace the role play experience as an opportunity to practice and learn new skills We also recommend that you:

  • Complete the eLearning modules prior to commencing your assessment
  • Pair with a study buddy for mutual assistance with assessments and idea sharing.
  • Access online classrooms where trainers cover course content.
  • Engage in activities aligned with assessments to enhance understanding and skills.


Role-Playing:

Role-playing is integrated into certain course modules and serves as a practical component of assessments, so you can demonstrate skills developed during the course.
