Complex bowel care

Bowel care is a routine part of personal support. It requires a specialist level of support where the participant is at risk of severe constipation or faecal incontinence. This course includes NDIS Code of Conduct, support worker roles and responsibilities, Infection Control and personal hygiene maintenance, basic anatomy and the digestive system, understanding of stool characteristics indication health bowel function, observing and recording any symptoms of bowel habit changes, understanding symptoms of intervention, intervention techniques and options, administering laxatives, suppositories, or enemas, administering other non-routine medication, maintaining hydration and nutrition requirements and reporting requirements.

Catheter care

Catheter care training is provided for support workers providing care to clients requiring catheter care. Deliver care services using a palliative approach

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide care for people with life-limiting illness and those within the normal ageing process using a palliative approach, as well as end-of-life care. This coures describes the skills and knowledge required to facilitate the empowerment of people receiving support, and to deliver rights-based services using a person-centred approach. It should be carried out in conjunction with individualised plans. This course applies to workers in varied care and support contexts.

Follow established person-centred behaviour sSupports

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to implement behaviour support strategies outlined in an individualised behaviour support plan for a person receiving care or support. Hoist operations

Lifting and handling equipment plans an important role in helping people to retain independence whilst also reducing the risk of injuries and accidents for carers. Using equipment to move and handle your clients helps to promote comfort and confidence and eliminates the risk of injuries and long-term health issues. Musco-skeletal injuries are prevalent among support workers. Using and having access to suitable manual handling equipment can help lower your risk of injury. Topics include: Duty of care, manual handling, identifying hazards, hoist operations, pelican belts and slide boards, other types of equipment, stand pivot transfers, communication supports, infection control, good personal hygiene, PPE, progress notes, reporting, confidentiality and reporting requirements.

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to organise, provide and monitor personal support services for a person within the limits established by an individualised plan. The individualised plan refers to the support or service provision plan developed for the person accessing the service and may have different names in different organisations. Work is carried out in a manner which supports independence as well as the physical and emotional wellbeing of the person receiving support.

Personal care can include but is not limited to; bathing and showering, including bed-baths, applying lotions and creams as required, dressing and getting ready for bed, oral hygiene, continence care and much more. Topics include: What is personal care?, building trust, activities of daily living, preparation to provide personal care, safe work procedures, risk factors, duty of care, personal hygiene, drying and dressing, meal preparation, mobility assistance, principles of infection control, good personal hygiene and PPE, progress notes, reporting, confidentiality and privacy requirements.

Professional boundaries

Professional boundaries are the limits to the relationship of a member of staff and a person in their care which allow for a safe, therapeutic connection between the staff member and that patient (and their nominated family, carers and friends), protecting both staff and patient/family. This course will provide you with information regarding professional boundaries and how to protect and keep your space. The course provides staff members with the knowledge and understanding around professional boundaries. Topics include qualities of a good support worker, building good boundaries in support work, crossing professional boundaries, why we need ethical standards?, privacy and confidentiality, friendships, tips for setting boundaries, reporting and documentation requirements and progress notes.

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred services to people with disability with complex or special support needs under the supervision of a relevant professional. This course applies to workers in varied disability contexts. This course describes the skills and knowledge required to work with basic information about healthy body systems and the impacts of ageing and disability. This course is to provide consumers with updated knowledge on the guidelines regarding Restrictive practices. Topics include chemical, environmental, mechanical and physical restraints, seclusion, progress notes and reporting requirements.

This course includes the knowledge required when supporting a participant who requires subcutaneous injections. This may apply when administering a range of medications and includes guidance when supporting participants to manage their diabetes. Lifting and handling equipment plans an important role in helping people to retain independence whilst also reducing the risk of injuries and accidents for carers. Using equipment to move and handle your clients helps to promote comfort and confidence and eliminates the risk of injuries and long-term health issues. Musco-skeletal injuries are prevalent among support workers. Using and having access to suitable manual handling equipment can help lower your risk of injury.

This coures describes the skills and knowledge required to facilitate the empowerment of people receiving support, and to deliver rights-based services using a person-centred approach. It should be carried out in conjunction with individualised plans. This course applies to workers in varied care and support contexts.

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to implement behaviour support strategies outlined in an individualised behaviour support plan for a person receiving care or support. They use complex and diverse methods and procedures as well as a range of problem solving and decision making strategies, which require the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement.

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to lead communication in the workplace within any industry. This course has a specific focus on the communication skills required for team leaders with responsibility for other workers.

It covers implementing the organisation’s diversity policy, fostering diversity within the work team and promoting the benefits of a diverse workplace. They may work with staff from different cultures, races, religions, generations, or other forms of difference in any industry context.

Hoist operations

Lifting and handling equipment plans an important role in helping people to retain independence whilst also reducing the risk of injuries and accidents for carers. Using equipment to move and handle your clients helps to promote comfort and confidence and eliminates the risk of injuries and long-term health issues. Musco-skeletal injuries are prevalent among support workers. Using and having access to suitable manual handling equipment can help lower your risk of injury.

This course applies to workers who have a key role in maintaining WHS in an organisation, including duty of care for other workers.

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to research information about compliance and ethical practice responsibilities, and then develop and monitor policies and procedures to meet those responsibilities. This course describes the skills and knowledge required to organise, provide and monitor personal support services for a person within the limits established by an individualised plan. The individualised plan refers to the support or service provision plan developed for the person accessing the service and may have different names in different organisations. Work is carried out in a manner which supports independence as well as the physical and emotional wellbeing of the person receiving support.

This unit is to help to understand through a pain management plan, healthcare providers help people manage all kinds of pain. Enteral feeding support (Peg Feeding)

PEG feeding training is provided for support workers providing care to clients requiring PEG feeding. Personal care

Personal care is assistance given to elderly or infirm people who have specific physical needs and have difficulty in taking care of themselves. You can help by assisting these people with everyday activities such as dressing, bathing, cooking and many more. Personal care can include but is not limited to; bathing and showering, including bed-baths, applying lotions and creams as required, dressing and getting ready for bed, oral hygiene, continence care and much more. Topics include: What is personal care?, building trust, activities of daily living, preparation to provide personal care, safe work procedures, risk factors, duty of care, personal hygiene, drying and dressing, meal preparation, mobility assistance, principles of infection control, good personal hygiene and PPE, progress notes, reporting, confidentiality and privacy requirements.

Professional boundaries

Professional boundaries are the limits to the relationship of a member of staff and a person in their care which allow for a safe, therapeutic connection between the staff member and that patient (and their nominated family, carers and friends), protecting both staff and patient/family. This course will provide you with information regarding professional boundaries and how to protect and keep your space. The course provides staff members with the knowledge and understanding around professional boundaries. Topics include qualities of a good support worker, building good boundaries in support work, crossing professional boundaries, why we need ethical standards?, privacy and confidentiality, friendships, tips for setting boundaries, reporting and documentation requirements and progress notes.

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred services to people with disability with complex or special support needs under the supervision of a relevant professional. This course is to provide support workers with updated knowledge on the guidelines regarding Restrictive practices. Topics include chemical, environmental, mechanical and physical restraints, seclusion, progress notes and reporting requirements.
