Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. To make sure the learner gets the most out of training with us, the following enrolment process applies:
  • Upon learner enquiry, a friendly Education Consultants will make contact to ensure they have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve the qualification.

 

To successfully complete this course, we recommend the following:
  • Have the ability to read and write in English and display numeracy skills up to a minimum level of Year 12.
  • Have access to a modern computer with high-speed internet.
  • Have access to a device with audio/video recording and playback capabilities.
  • Have basic computing skills, including the ability to make and upload short videos.
 
The specific course entry requirements are:
  • Hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in Community Services, Health or a related field, work in various care and support roles and who wish to develop skills in providing person-centred support to older people, within the delegations of an established individualised plan.
  • Be the minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Completion of a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Evaluation.
  • Have access to internet, webcam, email and MS Word, Adobe software and computer no older than 5 years.

Career Opportunities

This skill set is for individuals who hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in Community Services, Health or a related field, work in various care and support roles and who wish to develop skills in providing person-centred support to people with disability.

Training and Delivery Strategy

Classroom Training – Classroom sessions are scheduled over a 6 month duration. (excluding scheduled holiday breaks). Learning activities will reinforce theoretical knowledge, and workplace skills will be practiced and placed into context. Note: Refer to Training Schedule.
 
Assessment Support Sessions – Compulsory Assessment Support Sessions are offered to support learners in the completion of their assessments. Learners must attend online assessment support sessions as per their training schedule. Note: Refer to Training Schedule
 
eLearning Modules – Each unit of competency includes eLearning modules related to the topic. These must be completed in between attending classroom sessions as directed by the trainer/assessor. These modules are designed to reinforce theoretical concepts and will prepare learners with knowledge prior to attending the classroom sessions.
 
Coaching Sessions – Additional and optional 1:1 coaching sessions can be scheduled, as required with up to maximum of 4 x 1-hour sessions per learner over the duration of the course.
