Classroom Training – Classroom sessions are scheduled over a 16-month duration. (excluding scheduled holiday breaks). Learning activities will reinforce theoretical knowledge, and workplace skills will be practiced and placed into context. Note: Refer to Training Schedule.
Assessment Support Sessions – Compulsory Assessment Support Sessions are offered to support learners in the completion of their assessments. Learners must attend online assessment support sessions as per their training schedule. Note: Refer to Training Schedule
eLearning Modules – Each unit of competency includes eLearning modules related to the topic. These must be completed in between attending classroom sessions as directed by the trainer/assessor. These modules are designed to reinforce theoretical concepts and will prepare learners with knowledge prior to attending the classroom sessions.
Coaching Sessions – Additional and optional 1:1 coaching sessions can be scheduled, as required with up to maximum of 4 x 1-hour sessions per learner over the duration of the course.
Work Placement – A total of 120 hours of work placement is undertaken throughout the duration of the course. Learners will complete their work placement as Home and Community Support Workers. Meditech Training College will organise the work placement for all learners in either Home and Community support work with Meditech Staffing or in a Home and Community support organisation. If requested, we can also organise work placement in an Aged Care Support worker in an Aged Care Facility. Learners will be supervised during their work placement by an allocated workplace supervisor.
Workplace Observation – The Trainer/Assessor schedules at two visits to each learner at their work placement location, where practical demonstration is observed and assessed. It is anticipated that Trainer/Assessor will need to visit the learner in the workplace at least twice to conduct observation of workplace activities for these units and confirm competency with the Workplace Supervisor. If more visits are required, these will be coordinated with the employer and learner to ensure the learner is given access to clients that meet the support needs addressed in the assessment for the following units which are assessed during these visits.
