CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support via Recognition of Prior Learning
Who is this for?
This course is suitable for people working a minimum of 20 hours as a Support Worker in Homecare, Aged Care or Disability Support and have yet to obtain the Certificate III. It will be of particular interest to busy people who do not have time to attend classroom training. This 3 – 6 month course:
- Recognises industry skills and experience
- Follows a candidate centred approach
- Offers a supportive process with 1:1 mentoring
- Uses the workplace not the classroom to observe or enhance skills and knowledge
What is RPL?
- Is a process that assesses your competency – acquired through formal and informal learning – to determine if you meet the requirements for a unit of study.
- Is candidate-centred and supports you, the Candidate (employee) to demonstrate your skills and knowledge under the observation of the Assessor in your day-to-day role within your workplace.
- The Assessor works between you and your Employer to collect relevant workplace evidence including observation of skills, third-party (employer/supervisor) verification of workplace skills, relevant workplace documentation (portfolio), discussions (questioning) and workplace scenarios.
- Is delivered to provide existing eligible workers (you) in the care and support sector with the opportunity to have your workplace skills assessed against the requirements of the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support.
What does it cost?
Our course is offered for $1250*. Pay in full or on a payment plans available.
* Price excludes identified gap training, if applicable and completion of the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Gap Training
Gap Training is a way of filling in the relevant gaps in knowledge, skills, and experiences. For example, any units within the course that you don’t know how to do or you do not have enough experience to provide documentary evidence for, then the assessor will need to gap-train you.
Additional gap training costs include:
- 1-4 units – $500
- 5-9 units – $1000
- 10+ units – $1500
What is a Candidate-Centred Approach?
This approach is where you are put in the centre of the RPL process (as opposed to the Registered Training Organisation dictating the process).
The goal of candidate-centred approach is for the assessor to build the supportive / mentoring relationship with you, in order to achieve the following:
- A supportive process
- Minimise the collection of paperwork
- Use conversion and observations as the main means of collecting evidence
- Using your workplace not the classroom to observe or enhance your skills and knowledge
- An open and transparent assessment process, in which you are fully supported by an assessor
What is the Community of Practice?
- An interactive, online learning community designed for Support Workers in Homecare, Disability Support and Aged Care Workers
- Fortnightly online sessions chatting with Meditech Staffing Case Managers and Subject Matter Experts
